US Senators Ruben Gallego, Chris Coons, Elizabeth Warren and Ron Wyden introduced legislation that would impose sanctions on companies, individuals and other entities involved in building or facilitating Israeli settlements in the E1 area of the occupied West Bank.

Gallego said the measure was intended to reaffirm US support for a two-state solution, warning that E1 construction could cut East Jerusalem off from the West Bank and undermine the viability of a future Palestinian state.
