Last news of unconsciousness researchs:
MIT News reports that researchers at MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital have developed new algorithms that can assess unconsciousness in patients based on brain activity with high accuracy and reliability. The algorithms were trained on EEG readings of brain rhythms and can predict whether a patient is unconscious based on the kind of anesthetic being used. The algorithms offer the potential to allow anesthesiologists to maintain unconsciousness at the desired level while using less drug than they might administer when depending on less direct, accurate, and reliable indicators. That can improve patient’s post-operative outcomes, such as delirium¹.
