🔴 Ransomware devastates Japanese cloud! 495 organizations risk losing everything.
A large-scale ransomware attack has paralyzed part of the Japanese cloud platform IDCF Cloud, which hundreds of companies and government institutions rely on. 495 organizations were affected, and cloud operator IDC Frontier warned that it likely won't be possible to recover data on the damaged servers on its own. Customers without separate backups risk irreversible data loss.
The incident occurred on October 7th at around 3:40 a.m. (Japan time). Attackers penetrated the infrastructure of East Japan Region 1, one of the regions of the cloud platform owned by the SoftBank subsidiary. IDC Frontier confirmed the attack was using ransomware and disconnected the affected systems from the network to prevent the malware from spreading further.
