NEW: A Kingston NY Police Officer was injured Monday while on duty. According to the police department, incident happened around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Hurley Avenue and Quarry Street.

Police said the officer was directing traffic at the intersection when he was hit by a passing car. He was subsequently treated on scene but was later transported to the HealthAlliance emergency room for further treatment.
According to detectives, the officer is listed in stable condition.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No arrests have been made nor have charges been filed as of Tuesday morning.
