NEW: "Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet has confirmed that an officer-involved shooting occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. today in the 400 block of Clinton Street. The incident resulted in the death of one male suspect. One deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries during a physical altercation.

Louisiana State Police have been called in and have assumed responsibility for the investigation. All investigative inquiries should be directed to Louisiana State Police.

The name of the deceased individual and the names of the deputies involved are not being released at this time due to the nature of the ongoing investigation."
