Database clearing

Plus Messenger uses local database to store auxillary data which helps app to display what should be displayed, search what should be found, and do what should be done at all. It is a storage on your device which is filled by app while it is running and performs actions you request. By the way, official Telegram app does the same.

When app works for long time then database can a) get oversized and b) get currupted by failures which can happen when app saves some data to database. This can cause glitches and malfunction.

There is no exact size of database which should be considered as too big. We suppose database is OK if it's size is less than 100 Mb, but some users face issues with less size, and some do not face them with more size.

If your database size is bigger then 100 Mb OR your app glitches then we recommend you to clear database. Open Settings - Data and Storage - Storage Usage and tap "Clear Local Database" button.

Database clearing deletes nothing in your chats: all chats, contacts, media and so on will stay in your account or on your device.

If database size after clearing is still more than 100 Mb then maybe it is currupted so hard that clearing can not help. In this case, you need to fully reset your database. Please note: this action will erase your secret (not private, but secret!) chats and search history. To do this, tap this link and confirm database clearing. If it does not work, then log out of your account and log in back.

Please note: each of your accounts has its own separated database. If you clean database of one account, databases of other accounts stay uncleaned.
