🎓 PhD opportunity in Physics: Nanoscale X-ray diffraction for ferroelectric domain dynamics
🤩 Are you interested in developing cutting-edge experimental methods and advancing our understanding of functional materials?
✨ We are recruiting a doctoral student in physics to work on nanoscale X-ray diffraction (XRD) for imaging ferroelectric domain dynamics.
🔎 This project will develop advanced XRD methods to study how domains evolve and switch in ferroelectric materials, an area with strong relevance for future technologies in memory, computing and functional devices.
🔬 The successful candidate will work at the intersection of materials physics, synchrotron science and instrumentation development, making use of the unique capabilities of the NanoMAX beamline at MAX IV, the world’s first fourth-generation synchrotron.
🔖 The position offers an exciting international and interdisciplinary research environment through collaborations with:
• NanoLund
• The Division of Synchrotron Radiation Research (SRR)
• NanoMAX at MAX IV
• Max Born Institute (Berlin)
• University of Mainz
📝 We welcome applicants with experience or interest in areas such as:
• Nanofocusing and coherent X-ray methods
• X-ray techniques and analysis
• Programming and data analysis
• Ferroelectric, ferromagnetic or other ferroic materials
📇 We are looking for candidates who combine scientific curiosity with collaboration, initiative and independence.
📆 Application deadline: 31 July 2026
