The focus of this PhD position is the modelling of the aetiology and spatio-temporal distribution of infectious intestinal diseases (IID) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) across community and healthcare systems in the UK. Gastrointestinal infections remain a significant public health concern, affecting millions annually and disproportionately impacting vulnerable groups. These infections not only cause individual suffering but also place a considerable burden on healthcare resources through general practitioner visits, hospital admissions, and outbreak management.
