The focus of this PhD studentship is the development of a clinical decision support system for High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) therapy using advanced machine learning techniques. HFNC therapy is an increasingly utilized treatment for patients with acute respiratory failure, but uncertainty about patient outcomes can hinder its optimal use. By leveraging data from international clinical collaborators, this research aims to create a predictive software tool that provides clinicians with accurate, early assessments of HFNC therapy outcomes. This innovation has the potential to enhance clinical confidence, ensure timely escalation of care, and ultimately improve survival and recovery rates for patients.
