This PhD position is part of the EPSRC-funded ENLIGHT programme, a national research effort focused on the lifecycle management of graphite in advanced modular reactors (AMRs). The project addresses one of the UK’s most significant nuclear materials challenges: the safe and sustainable management of legacy reactor graphite from Magnox and AGR decommissioning, as well as the characterisation of candidate graphite materials for future AMR technologies.
