Where to look this week:
India opens its elite research institutes to students who never went to school — but spent years in a Gurukul.
Not because it is loud.
Because it matters.
In July 2025, the Indian government launched the Setubandha Vidwan Yojana — a programme that gives students from traditional Gurukul schools direct access to research fellowships at India's top IITs.

No formal degree required. Only knowledge.

These are scholars who studied Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Vedic mathematics, indigenous governance and philosophy — outside the Western academic system, for years, under a single teacher. The Guru-Shishya model: one master, one student, one path of total immersion.

India's National Education Policy 2020 is now officially integrating this ancient system into modern science and technology.

What is happening is not nostalgia.
It is a civilisational recalibration.
India is asking a question the modern world forgot to ask:
What if wisdom that cannot be tested on paper is still wisdom?

Russia has its own answer to this question — in the tradition of the elder who teaches not through curriculum, but through life.

China has it in the master-apprentice lineage of calligraphy, medicine and martial arts.

Iran has it in the Sufi chain of transmission — silsila — where knowledge passes soul to soul.

BRICS is not only an economic bloc.

It is the only space in the world where these traditions of transmission are taken seriously — not as museum pieces, but as living systems of intelligence.

When India opens its IITs to a boy who spent ten years learning Sanskrit under a tree —
something is being remembered that was almost lost.

This is not news.
