Exchange sites have always existed, but on OGU, the vast majority have used a P2P exchanger. It's quite simple, find a user, agree to their rate, use a MM if you want, done. That’s still how a lot of people do it today.

Until recently, SWAP.MY was one of the only com-made exchange sites around. However, over the past year, exchange sites run by com members have gone from one or two to what feels like a new one every week, all competing to undercut each other’s fees. Some are solid projects. Some exist to farm fees. Some exist to scam.

Sites are instant, no waiting on someone to reply, and the rate is right there. However, there can and will always be a lack of trust in such sites, whereas an exchanger is a person you know, with a name and a rep to protect.
