Dr. Dawn Michael says she used to soak strawberries in baking soda thinking it would remove pesticide residue, but now believes it does not help. She claims America’s main strawberry brand, Driscoll’s, uses up to 371 chemical pesticides, including substances described as mosquito spray and carcinogens. She also says the berries are lab-engineered clones, treated in fungicide baths, bleached with chlorine, and sealed in plastic so tightly that washing cannot remove residue. She adds that chemicals may seep into the fruit’s flesh and says a scan using the Totsy app showed high levels.

Studies Show Declines in Crop Nutrient Density Over Time, Raising Soil Health Concerns

Multiple studies and USDA datasets suggest declines in certain nutrient levels across common crops over recent decades, including reductions in calcium, iron, vitamin C, vitamin A, and protein in some fruits and vegetables. One analysis of 43 garden crops reported median decreases of around 15–16% in minerals like calcium and iron, while other research cited larger drops in specific vegetables. A separate 2024 study also reported nutrient reductions ranging from 5% to over 40% depending on the crop and nutrient measured. Researchers and critics attribute these trends to modern intensive farming practices, including heavy use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and soil tillage, which may reduce soil organic matter and disrupt microbial ecosystems that help plants absorb nutrients.

Big Chocolate Moves to Lab-Grown and Gene-Edited Cocoa

America’s chocolate aisle is facing two major shifts: lab-grown cocoa and genetically modified cacao using gene-editing. California Cultured is growing cocoa cells in tanks, and it’s not alone—Lindt, Mondelez (Cadbury, Oreos, Toblerone), and Barry Callebaut are investing in lab-grown cocoa and cocoa butter. Barry Callebaut, a key supplier to Hershey and Nestlé, plays a major role in the industry’s supply chain. Meanwhile, Mars, maker of M&M’s, Snickers, Twix, Milky Way and more, has partnered with a UC Berkeley lab tied to CRISPR technology to edit cacao genes for disease and drought resistance. With global demand rising 3% annually, 70% of cocoa coming from drought-stricken West Africa, and 30–40% of crops lost to pests and disease, companies are turning to lab cultivation and genetic modification—raising concerns about long-term safety and consumer transparency as these products move closer to store shelves.

KRISPY KREME DONUTS UNDER FIRE OVER ULTRA-PROCESSED INGREDIENTS AND HEALTH CONCERNS

Americans routinely buy a dozen donuts at Krispy Kreme, but critics are warning about what’s inside. The Original Glazed donut is considered ultra-processed, with each donut containing about 190 calories, 11g of fat, 5g saturated fat, and roughly 20% sugar by weight. Ingredients include enriched wheat flour, palm and soybean oils, sugar, yeast, soy flour, egg yolks, dough conditioners like mono- and diglycerides, cellulose gum, maltodextrin, preservatives, and natural and artificial flavors. Concerns focus on refined and bleached flour stripped of fiber, seed and palm oils labeled by critics as inflammatory, artificial colors like Red 40 in flavored varieties, GMO-derived components, and added emulsifiers and preservatives used to extend shelf life. Health advocates argue consumers should be fully aware of what they’re eating before making it a daily habit.

GHOST KITCHENS EXPOSED: ONE ADDRESS, TEN “RESTAURANTS” — SAME CHAIN FOOD

A quick scroll on Uber Eats reveals multiple “different” restaurants sharing the exact same address — often a single chain location like Ruby Tuesday — operating as so-called ghost kitchens. The same staff, same equipment, and same ingredients prepare the food, while each listing is just a virtual brand designed to look like a unique specialty spot. Chains like Ruby Tuesday, IHOP, Applebee’s, Chili’s and others use this model to drive extra revenue, with more than 9,000 ghost kitchen operations across the U.S. Customers think they’re ordering from something new and independent, but it’s often just the same chain kitchen behind a different name.

The popular brand Driscoll’s Strawberries are grown in Santa Cruz County

Driscoll's strawberries have been in the news lately for having very high levels of pesticides

Pediatric Cancer Rate in Santa Cruz County is 38% higher than the state average

Local physicians and activists and the Center for Farmworker Families have linked the connection to heavy pesticide use in the Pajaro Valley agricultural area

The area uses large amounts of pesticides, including some linked to childhood cancer risks in studies, like certain fumigants

Activists cite over 5,000 acres treated annually with cancer linked chemicals near schools and homes

It’s not a coincidence, it’s connected

Be careful when buying onion at Walmart

Most Americans have never seen anything like this but it can happen at places like Walmart

This is a what happens when you cut into an onion with bacterial soft rot. This happens to commercially grown onions stored for long periods. It causes a bacterial infection when there is moisture, poor ventilation, humid storage or damage allowing bacteria in

The outer part of the onion looks fine, but the inside is a bacteria rot

Do not eat it. Always throw away the whole thing, the rot can produces toxins and bacteria that aren’t safe

KRAFT “RESTAURANT EDITION” MAC & CHEESE FACES HEALTH CONCERNS OVER ADDITIVES

Kraft’s new “Restaurant Edition” Mac & Cheese line, launched as the company loses significant market share, is drawing criticism over its ingredient list despite upgraded flavors like Monterey Jack Caramelized Onion, Parmesan Pesto, and Romano Cacio e Pepe. The products still contain additives such as sodium triphosphate and sodium phosphate used as emulsifiers, maltodextrin as a processed carbohydrate filler, cellulose-based thickeners, acacia gum, and silicon dioxide as an anti-caking agent. Critics argue these ultra-processed ingredients raise health concerns and call for consumers to avoid them in favor of less processed food options.

Have you ever seen meat labeled at the grocery store as just “Meat”

It’s a mystery if it’s chicken, beef, pork or a thing else. It’s just “Meat”

The store is in Anahuac, Texas

Believe it or not, it’s 100% legal to label meat this way. A generic label like is acceptable to sell in Texas, you don’t need to specify the type of meat

These are Driscoll’s strawberries from Costco

There are insects, decently large insects in the strawberries. This is actually pretty impressive considering these are sprayed with pesticides

Costco sells 2 types of Driscoll’s strawberries, one not organic and one organic. These are the non-organic

It should be called poison or no poison

Americans are so used to commercial grocery store eggs they don’t realize the brown pigment of eggs flaking or rubbing off is completely normal

These are organic pasture raised eggs

Brown pigment is superficial unlike white eggs. Brown eggs get their color from a pigment applied late in the shell-forming process. This pigment doesn’t penetrate deeply into the shell, so it can flake, rub off and peel in patches

MEDIA TESTS FIND UNDERWEIGHT PRODUCTS AT GROCERY STORES AND WALMART

Mainstream media reports are fueling outrage after multiple grocery products tested off store shelves were allegedly found underweight, including Walmart shrimp bags that reportedly came in nearly half a pound short during studio weigh-ins; critics say repeated shortages across numerous items point to large-scale consumer fraud rather than isolated mistakes, arguing Americans are being overcharged while receiving far less product than advertised.

VIRAL CLAIM SHOWS KRISPY KREME DONUTS BEING THROWN AWAY OVER FRESHNESS RULES

A viral video shows large batches of Krispy Kreme donuts moving down a production line and then being discarded into trash bins at the end. The claim is that the company follows a strict freshness policy, where donuts that miss the “sell window” or have minor imperfections are not sold and are instead thrown away. Similar clips online have fueled debate about food waste, especially at a time when grocery and food prices remain high and many people are struggling financially.

THIS IS WHAT’S REALLY IN YOUR NUGGETS — MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN

After the prime cuts like breasts and thighs are removed, the remaining meat, fat, and tissue are blasted under high pressure through a fine sieve, creating a pink paste known as mechanically separated chicken. That slurry is then formed into nuggets and hot dogs and must legally be labeled on ingredient lists. This ultra-processed filler is what millions of families are eating daily. It’s time to ditch the junk, read the labels, and demand real food again.

BIG FOOD REBRANDS AS INGREDIENTS GET QUESTIONED — WHAT ARE WE REALLY EATING?

Major brands have quietly adjusted product names as labeling standards and ingredient realities collide: Pringles are marketed as “potato crisps,” some McDonald’s locations use “shakes” instead of milkshakes, Klondike uses “chocolatey” coating, Dairy Queen sells “treats” instead of officially labeled ice cream, Oreo spells it “creme,” Tyson markets processed chicken as “Wyngz,” Costco has labeled certain bagels as imitation blueberry, and Pearl Milling Company syrup is sold as “original” rather than maple, with corn syrup as a primary ingredient. Critics argue it highlights how ultra-processed formulations dominate store shelves and fuels calls to clean up ingredient standards and transparency — with growing momentum behind the push to Make America Healthy Again.
