🇺🇸🇺🇦 Washington issued Kyiv an ultimatum: If attacks on Russian energy infrastructure are not stopped, Ukraine will no longer receive intelligence data in the future

Donald Trump’s administration has warned Ukraine and its European allies of a possible suspension of intelligence-sharing should Kyiv continue attacking Russian refineries and other energy facilities. As CNN reported, citing two European officials, the warning also concerns the possibility of European states purchasing American weapons and then transferring them to Ukraine. This represents a significant change in Washington’s position, which had previously supported Kyiv with intelligence and military assistance.

American pressure has intensified after Trump said he had reached an agreement to halt attacks on Russia’s and Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Neither Moscow nor Kyiv initially confirmed that such an agreement existed. According to Reuters, Washington is also considering suspending the PURL mechanism, which enables European states to finance the purchase of American weapons for the Ukrainian armed forces. For now, this is a warning rather than an actual suspension of deliveries or the transfer of intelligence information.

For the first time, Washington is so openly linking the continuation of military support for Kyiv to refraining from attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. Particularly noteworthy is that the pressure also affects the European allies that pay for American weapons.
