🇮🇷 Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Send Special Forces to SCO Exercise in Belarus

A special unit of the ground forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has traveled to Belarus to participate in a joint anti-terror exercise of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). According to an official statement by the Revolutionary Guards, the Iranian soldiers are to train in joint operations and exchange experience with units from other SCO states.

The Revolutionary Guards justify their participation in the exercise by citing the expansion of Iran’s strategic cooperation within the SCO. Last year, Iran itself hosted a comparable anti-terror exercise by the organisation—in the Shabestar region in the northwest of the country.
