Serbia is preparing to become the first country in Eastern Europe to repatriate its entire gold reserves – worth about 6 billion dollars.

As Bloomberg reports, Belgrade has decided to withdraw its gold from traditional storage locations like Switzerland, the UK, and the USA amid growing distrust of the West.

This decision was made "in times of crises and uncertainties," as Serbian authorities no longer see the point in storing national wealth abroad – especially in institutions linked to the same Western powers that exert political pressure on Belgrade.
