💢 Hungary rejected participation in Kiev’s new Carpathian Integration Initiative after being presented as part of the format without prior consultation or consent, Prime Minister Péter Magyar said.

“I am helping you,” Magyar replied to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

“Just to give you an example: Hi, we have formed a football team in the next village. We don’t know each other, but you are in it, and you have to bring the ball.”

Sybiha had said Kiev was “surprised” by Magyar’s “unnecessarily confrontational” position, arguing that the initiative was designed for regional cooperation. He also accused Budapest of continuing Viktor Orbán’s policies of “obstructionism and isolationism,” saying “Orbanism” had done no good for Hungary or the region.
