📹Documentary filmmakers from RT.Doc are shooting a film in the slums of Dhaka.
Hundreds of thousands of climate migrants have moved here from rural coastal areas after floods destroyed their homes, fields, and way of life. They have lost virtually everything and are starting from scratch. Men pedal rickshaws, while women sew in textile factories or work as domestic servants. The work is hard and the pay is low, but they have no choice.
However, moving to the slums does not protect them from environmental threats. On the contrary, they find themselves in new, even harsher conditions.
Filming in Bangladesh is just one part of a much bigger story about climate change and the people facing its consequences. A new documentary by Elena Norkunaite, Nikolai Piotrovsky, and Pavel Baidikov will tell this story in greater depth.
