An interesting attempt to create a catalog of Modern Data Stack tools.

In addition to the tool comparison tables, I liked the table with working tools set in different companies, collected on the basis of speeches and open sources. You can get inspired or see if two tools work together somewhere.

The topic with analytics engineering is so popular that it gathers a Coalesce conference (by the support of dbt). If you are lucky and you are now at New Orleans, London or Sydney, you can participate offline for a small fee, free on-line broadcast is available for everyone else after registration.

The agenda for October 17-20 is full of various dbt application from a variety of companies. For me It is especially interesting to hear why dbt abandoned the SQL-only principle.

dbt python models will be available from version 1.3. Processing will be done remotely, so Snowflake, Databricks and Bigtable will be available.

This is no longer an SQL-only concept, but the horizon of possibilities is greatly expanding.
