Pierre-Auguste Renoir
*Girl with a Watering Can*, 1876

Grandpa!
Where are you, Grandpa?
Have you gone and got lost?
I’m looking for you,
Feeling sad!
I can see the garden beds
Have been watered.

A pile of mint sits on the table,
The hens are asking
For a little bread.
The world feels dull somehow
Without you,
Dear Grandpa!

Then,
from every side,
arms wrap around
my gloomy little self.
It’s Grandpa!
He hands me
a delicious raspberry.

Now there are two of us again
in all the world!
I pull him home with me:
I’ll never let Grandpa
go off alone
again.

Maria Rupasova
