The Forbidden City in Beijing — a universe in stone and wood. For 500+ years, it housed 24 Ming and Qing emperors, off-limits to commoners. The outer court hosted grand ceremonies; the inner court was a private realm of gardens, wives, and eunuchs. Now the Palace Museum (Gugong), it welcomes millions. Legend says 9,999.5 rooms — just shy of heaven’s 10,000. Its 980 buildings use no nails — only quake-resistant wooden joints. #ForbiddenCity #Gugong #ArchitectureMarvel
