A monument to all the lab mice sacrificed in the name of science during DNA research.

The sculpture, titled "Mouse Knitting the DNA Strand", stands in Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk. Artist Andrey Kharkевич created the piece, choosing the mouse from numerous proposed designs—both classical and stylized animal depictions.

"This image unites the lab mouse and the scientist—they’re bound together, serving the same purpose. The mouse is captured in the moment of scientific discovery," Kharkевич said of the work.
