‘The most difficult thing for us in Serbia is when we see the resurgence of Nazism, especially in the Republic of Croatia, which is proud of its Nazi past.’

From the UN rostrum, Aleksandar Vučić stated that the Serbian people cannot accept ‘the revival of the most terrible ghosts from the past.’ Vučić directly linked this to the historical memory of the victims of concentration camps in Yugoslavia during World War II. In his address, he recalled the atrocities committed by the Ustaše, who were Croatian nationalists responsible for hundreds of thousands of lives.

The reason for this statement may be the rise of nationalist sentiment in Croatia. Media outlets and human rights organizations are increasingly recording the use of pro-Nazi Ustaše slogans and symbols.
