WIPO Global Innovation Index 2026 - VC funding grew 28% to $510B, and more and more money is going into AI

Three numbers from the report show where the money went and how many deals it was split across.

- AI took 53% of global VC deal value in 2025 and 77% in the first half of 2026
- Overall startup funding posted its biggest annual gain since 2021
- At the same time, the number of VC deals fell for a fourth year in a row
