In the following years, Stoecker worked on improving his tree and, in the end, settled on using plexiglass for the rings to make the tree transparent. Forty years later, Matt Bliss, Stoecker’s grandson, stumbled upon one of his grandad’s trees and decided to manufacture it. The new trees produced by The Modern Christmas Tree, the company Bliss established, were an immense success, especially after Bliss decided to photograph them in iconic mid-century settings, e.g. in the Farnswarth House and Stahl House.
