⚡️ Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian MFA Rodion Miroshnik in an interview with Russia Today on the humanitarian disaster in #Alyoshki caused by Ukrainian militants (Geneva, October 1, 2026)
Key points:
• Around 1,000-1,100 people remain in Alyoshki, out of a population of 24,000. Most are people with limited mobility and close relatives who cannot leave them behind.
• The city has been without electricity and a centralised water supply for about three years. Communication is sporadic, making it difficult to contact residents and verify exact figures.
• Ukrainian forces plant mines every day along the main roads used to deliver food and essential supplies and to evacuate residents. The city can now be reached or left only on foot, while avoiding areas riddled with anti-personnel mines.
• Ukraine claims it is dropping humanitarian aid from drones. But how are residents of Alyoshki supposed to distinguish them from the drones that bomb them? After three years of hourly Ukrainian drone attacks, how can anyone seriously expect people to trust such an approach?
• On May 1, 2025, Ukrainian drones attacked the local market for several hours. Anyone who emerged from cover came under fire. Seven people were killed on the spot, and more than 20 were evacuated with extremely serious injuries.
❗️ If Ukraine stopped carrying out strikes, the severe humanitarian situation in the city could be resolved within hours. Russian troops are clearing roads mined by Ukrainian militants.
• Some residents have left along footpaths in recent days, finding refuge elsewhere in the Kherson Region or beyond. Regional authorities and federal agencies are providing assistance to them.
• Ukraine's propaganda campaign is deeply cynical. Kiev is trying to blame Moscow for its own actions while claiming to care about the people of Alyoshki.
• Zelensky's Western handlers readily embrace slogans such as “Save Alyoshki”. But save Alyoshki from whom? 👉 From Ukrainian militants, Ukrainian drone strikes and Ukrainian mines that prevent residents from leaving.
• These are attempts to divert attention from Ukraine’s losses and its inability to achieve results on the battlefield. With the help of Western specialists, the crisis is being used for propaganda and psychological operations.
• Support for the Kiev regime goes beyond funding and weapons supplies. It also includes justifying its actions and blocking attempts to investigate its crimes or hold those responsible accountable.
• The same Western countries keep parroting recycled talking points: they want to blame Russia for everything while preventing any investigation into Ukrainian crimes. It is hardly surprising that they are unwilling to scrutinise their own complicity.
