🇷🇺🇧🇭 September 29 marks the 3️⃣6️⃣th anniversary of Russia-Kingdom of #Bahrain diplomatic relations.

Diplomatic relations between the Soviet Union and the Kingdom of Bahrain were established on September 29, 1990. On December 28, 1991, Bahrain recognised the Russian Federation as the legal successor to the Soviet Union.

🤝 Our countries maintain wide-ranging political dialogue at the top level. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain visited Russia in December 2008, October 2014, February and September 2016, and May 2024.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has traditionally taken an active part in the St Petersburg International Economic Forum. In 2026, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy Salman Al Khalifa, and Minister of Industry and Commerce and Co-Chair of the Russian-Bahraini Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Abdulla Fakhro came to St Petersburg to attend #SPIEF.

Our respective foreign ministries maintain regular contacts as well. In June, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held substantive talks with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, who was in Moscow on a working visit.

✅ Russian-Bahraini economic cooperation boasts significant potential. Regular contacts continue as part of the Russian-Bahraini Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, whose co-chairs place special emphasis on expanding bilateral cooperation in practical matters.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation is making great strides as well. In 2025, Bahrain hosted the Russian Seasons Festival of Russian art and culture, which featured performances by the Mariinsky Theatre Company led by Valery Gergiev, the Lezginka Dagestan State Academic Dance Ensemble, and Soyuzmultfilm Animation Studio, as well as the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
