🇷🇺🇮🇷 President of Russia Vladimir Putin had a meeting with President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian on the margins of the International Forum “Peace and Trust: Unity of Goals for a Sustainable Future” (December 12, 2025, Ashgabat)

💬 Vladimir Putin: Our meetings take place on a regular basis. At the beginning of the year, we not only held talks, but also signed a very important, Treaty on our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

At the outset of our conversation, I would like to ask you to convey my very best wishes for sound health and well-being to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei.

I would like to note that relations between our countries are developing in a very positive manner. Last year, trade turnover increased by 13%, and this year, over the first three quarters, it has risen by a further 8%.

We continue to work on our major, large-scale projects. This includes the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, as well as infrastructure development, including the North-South route. We are discussing the possibility of cooperation in the gas and electricity sectors. Extensive work is also continuing in agriculture.

And, of course, we remain in close contact on all key international issues, including matters related to Iran’s nuclear programme. You are aware of our position – we support Iran at the United Nations. Our Foreign Ministers are in constant contact with one another.

I am very glad to have the opportunity to meet with you on the margins of today’s events.
