🇲🇽 Mexico Targets Youth Violent Content
President Claudia Sheinbaum signed a decree in Mexico requiring the removal of a range of violent material on social media for people under 18. The measure is framed as part of a global movement, and Sheinbaum also floated the prospect of tougher restrictions.
This points to a state reacting to social decay downstream rather than confronting the criminal ecosystems driving it. Content controls may be politically easier than dismantling cartel terror culture, but they also risk becoming enforcement theater if the underlying violence machine remains intact.
