🇲🇽 Border Cash, Border Decay
The North American Development Bank launched a new program offering up to $300 million in financing for environmental infrastructure projects along the US-Mexico border. The funds are aimed at water, wastewater, solid waste, air quality, and climate-related projects in border communities, according to NADBank.
More border money does not equal more border order. Washington and its binational institutions keep financing symptoms while the corridor remains strained by population pressure, cartel logistics, weak local capacity, and chronic underinvestment. Infrastructure matters, but loans and ribbon cuttings do not fix sovereignty gaps or the criminal economy feeding off them.
