🇺🇸 ICE Vehicle Probe In Houston

An ICE officer accused of striking Miguel Parra Hernández with a vehicle in Houston on Saturday has been placed on administrative leave. DHS said multiple ICE officers wore body cameras and ICE is reviewing the footage internally. Harris County DA Sean Teare said a handcuffed witness inside the ICE vehicle was interviewed at Port Isabel Processing Center and the case could go to a grand jury as soon as next week.

Administrative leave is not accountability, and DHS still has not decided whether to release the video to prosecutors or the public. When a key witness is sitting in a deportation pipeline 35 to 40 miles from the border, it raises the familiar question: enforcement first, transparency later, if ever.
