🇺🇸 Pharr Bridge Gets Bigger
Pharr officials are moving ahead with an expansion of the Pharr International Bridge in Hidalgo County, Texas, according to Texas Border Business. The project centers on added commercial capacity at one of the busiest US-Mexico trade crossings in the Rio Grande Valley, a key corridor for truck traffic linked to Reynosa and broader cross-border commerce.
More lanes and throughput may help legal trade, but expansion alone does nothing to resolve the structural problem: the same dense logistics corridor also gives illicit networks cover, volume, and redundancy. Washington loves ribbon cuttings and trade metrics. Cartels exploit scale, congestion, and weak upstream control on the Mexican side.
