The International Organization for Migration said in a report published Friday that nearly 1.5 million people have been displaced across Haiti as violence spreads beyond the capital. The crisis is no longer confined to Port-au-Prince and now reaches across the country, according to the UN-linked agency.

That scale of internal displacement signals state failure, not a localized security problem. When violence spreads nationwide, migration pressure, trafficking opportunities, and cartel-adjacent smuggling infrastructure tend to grow while the international bureaucracy issues reports and little else.
