Polycystic liver disease is a rare condition that causes cysts to grow throughout the liver.
This patient presented with upper abdominal pain. An abdominal ultrasound was arranged and showed a large number of cysts in the liver. Subsequent CT scan demonstrates multiple cysts of varying sizes, predominantly involving the left lobe of the liver. This patient also had multiple cysts in both kidneys.
These are the appearances of polycystic liver disease. As the patient was very symptomatic, a left hemihepatectomy was performed. The resected left lobe is shown here, and correlates nicely with the CT image above it.

Colorectal cancer is the development of cancer from the colon or rectum. Signs and symptoms may include blood in the stool, a change in bowel movements, weight loss, and fatigue.
Adenomatous polyps, or adenomas, are polyps that grow on the lining of the colon and which carry a high risk of cancer. The adenomatous polyp is considered pre-malignant.

A gallstone is a stone formed within the gallbladder out of precipitated bile components. The term cholelithiasis may refer to the presence of gallstones or to any disease caused by gallstones, and choledocholithiasis refers to presence of migrated gallstones within bile ducts.

Oral candidiasis (thrush)

Candidiasis is a fungal infection due to any type of Candida (a type of yeast). When it affects the mouth, in some countries it is commonly called thrush. Signs and symptoms include white patches on the tongue or other areas of the mouth and throat. Other symptoms may include soreness and problems swallowing.

Ascariasis is a disease caused by the roundworm Ascaris lumbricoides. Infections have no symptoms in more than 85% of cases, especially if the number of worms is small. Symptoms increase with the number of worms present and may include shortness of breath and fever in the beginning of the disease. These may be followed by symptoms of abdominal swelling, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Children are most commonly affected, and in this age group the infection may also cause poor weight gain and malnutrition.

Uterine fibroids, also known as uterine leiomyomas or fibroids, are benign smooth muscle tumors of the uterus. Most women have no symptoms while others may have painful or heavy periods. If large enough, they may push on the bladder causing a frequent need to urinate. They may also cause lower back pain. A woman can have one uterine fibroid or many. Occasionally, fibroids may make it difficult to become pregnant, although this is uncommon.
Symptomatic uterine fibroids can be treated by:
• Medication to control symptoms (i.e., symptomatic management)
• Medication aimed at shrinking tumors
• Ultrasound fibroid destruction
• Myomectomy or radiofrequency ablation
• Hysterectomy
• Uterine artery embolization

Keloids are a type of raised scar. They occur where the skin has healed after an injury. They can grow to be much larger than the original injury that caused the scar. Anything that can cause a scar can cause a keloid. This includes being burned, cut, or having severe acne
