⚡️🇺🇸🇾🇪 — U.S. Department of Energy electrical engineer Ellaboudy has been arrested for providing material support to Iran-backed Houthis, including purchasing drone components and homemade explosive precursors (acetone, sodium bisulfate), the Justice Department and FBI reported. Ellaboudy allegedly traveled toward Yemen last September using a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-issued passport, reaching Oman before returning to the U.S.; he was recorded telling FBI informants he was smuggled into Yemen but failed to reach Sanaa to establish government-level connections. — CBS

➡️ Upon return, Ellaboudy falsely claimed to CBP that the Oman trip was a U.S. government mission to inspect missile-defense systems, a claim refuted by his DoE supervisor who denied knowledge of any international travel or assigned missile-inspection programs. The FBI investigation, utilizing informants including one posing as a Houthi colonel, established that Ellaboudy provided technical advice and assistance on communications equipment to enhance Houthi capabilities.
