⚡️🇮🇷🇺🇸 — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian blamed the United States for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, saying “it was America that blocked our paths” and that “closing the Strait of Hormuz is a natural response when paths are blocked for Iran.” He said the crisis could be resolved through negotiations rather than force and that the waterway “will remain open for trade if negotiations lead to resolving the dispute” — Al Jazeera.

➡️ On Yemen, Pezeshkian said the Houthis and Saudi Arabia “must resolve their differences through dialogue” and that Iran “can help resolve the dispute.” He said “what is happening in Yemen is not linked to Iran,” adding that Iran “stand[s] in solidarity with everyone who is subjected to injustice.” He stressed that Iran “will not be warmongers” and that “a brother should not fight his brother.”

➡️ Pezeshkian accused Israel and the United States of “pitting Muslim countries against one another in order to control the region’s wealth” and said they had attacked Iran “from the airspace of Muslim countries.” He said “enemies” were seeking to fuel internal disputes among Iranian officials, while Iran was experiencing “unprecedented unity and cohesion,” and argued that those who thought sanctions could target the Iranian population “miscalculated.” He said Washington and Israel sought to “prevent Iran from relying on itself,” but Iran would invest in its people, and accused them of having “dragged” regional states into war while expecting the Iranian regime to “fall within days.”

Despite this, he said Iranians had “stood firm in the face of American and Israeli attacks, and we will continue to stand firm,” adding that regional security should be achieved through “cooperation among its countries” and that the region does not need a “policeman.”
