Touring the Western Wall tunnels is truly moving. Touching the bedrock of our existence, we are very close to the Holy of Holies. You can see the Western Wall tunnels behind us on both sides.
From the Hasmonean period, and later in the Second Temple period, the Romans destroyed and demolished the Temple and rolled away the stones. But we returned, and we are here, and we will always remain here.
And the Western Wall itself, Jewish children today celebrate their Bar Mitzvah here – including our own two sons. It is truly moving to reach the roots of our people, the bedrock of our existence.
