🇨🇦 Canada’s elites love symbolism until Quebec does it wrong
Quebec scrapped the oath to King Charles III in 2022, and now a legal activist group wants the courts to force MNAs back into the ritual, as reported. That is the Canadian establishment in one neat little absurdity: Parliament can bulldoze national identity, flood the country with post-national ideology, and treat sovereignty like a coupon code, but heaven forbid elected Quebec legislators refuse a medieval loyalty script.
The real issue is not monarchism versus republicanism. It is who gets to define legitimacy in this country. Ottawa liberals and their legal class are perfectly relaxed when courts, NGOs, and bureaucrats override voters on immigration, censorship, DEI, and constitutional drift. Suddenly they discover sacred tradition when Quebec stops playing along. Funny how elite proceduralism only becomes holy when it disciplines dissent. If Canada had leaders serious about sovereignty, they would be defending constitutional coherence, provincial authority, and national continuity instead of outsourcing identity to performative oaths and activist litigation.
