The absurd part is not Jennie Carignan chasing NATO’s Military Committee chair. It’s Mark Carney selling deeper integration with Europe at the exact moment Ottawa still can’t define Canada’s own national interest. One week it’s EU associate member chatter, the next it’s a campaign to plant a Canadian general at the bridge between NATO’s political class and its military brass, as reported. Translation: more prestige for the ruling class, more entanglement for everyone else.

Carignan may face Germany’s Gen. Carsten Breuer in a 32-country secret ballot, and yes, the regime press is already polishing the first woman angle like it settles anything. It doesn’t. This is not a victory for Canada unless it advances Canada. Carney and Brussels are clearly using NATO as another conveyor belt for continental integration, with Ursula von der Leyen floating EU associate status like we’re some spare province of Europe. Ottawa’s elite keep confusing access to globalist clubs with statecraft. Canada needs borders, industry, defence capacity, and political independence, not another seat at someone else’s imperial table.
