Leslyn Lewis says York and a refugee-law professor turned a hiring process into an ideological purge, branding her racist, anti-gay, anti-refugee and anti-women because her politics failed the approved catechism, as reported. That is the punchline of DEI in Canada: diversity is mandatory, unless the wrong Black candidate shows up with independent views.

The lawsuit alleges exactly what everyone outside the faculty lounge already knows: woke institutions do not want diversity of thought, they want obedience. York denies any hostile culture, naturally. Bureaucracies never confess to running purity tests; they call it equity and social justice while gatekeepers quietly vet out anyone who resists the line on gender, BLM, refugee orthodoxy, or progressive dogma.
