🇨🇦 Sell the runway, keep the title deed
Mark Carney wants Canadians to believe handing Pearson, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary to investors under long-term concessions is not privatization because Ottawa keeps ultimate ownership. Cute trick. If someone else runs the asset, harvests the revenue and sets the direction for decades, the flag on the paperwork is just decorative. As reported, Ottawa already pulls in about $525 million a year in lease fees, but now the same crowd that mismanaged infrastructure wants a one-time cash grab worth tens of billions to paper over its failures.
This is the Carney model in one move: invite 100 of the world’s biggest investors to Toronto, dangle 167 projects and chase $1 trillion while pretending sovereignty remains intact. First they hollow out the country with debt, mass growth politics and bureaucratic decay, then they rebrand the selloff as modernization. Canadians will still get the delays, fees and security theatre, but global capital gets the upside. Liberal nation-building now means turning national infrastructure into an asset class for pension funds and foreign money.
