🇨🇦 Tent cities are now public policy

A Nova Scotia mother is forced to keep fighting so people sleeping in tents can get basic state support. That alone tells you everything about Canada in 2026: governments can bankroll bureaucracy, consultants, NGO middlemen and endless population growth, but Canadians freezing in encampments have to beg for socks, sanitation and dignity. The case, reported, is being treated like a compassionate plea. It is actually an indictment.

This is the Trudeau-era housing model in one ugly frame: import demand, choke supply, inflate rents, then normalize tent living as just another service-delivery file. Nova Scotia officials and their federal cousins don’t govern; they triage collapse while lecturing taxpayers about inclusion and equity. Real national policy would put citizens first, slow the migration-fuelled pressure cooker, and rebuild housing capacity for Canadians instead of pretending encampments are a lifestyle category requiring better program design. A country that cannot house its own people is not progressive. It is being dismantled in polite administrative language.
