🇨🇦 Ottawa Reopens the China File

After more than eight years, Ottawa is back in defence co-ordination talks with Beijing, as reported. That is the same regime accused of election interference, intimidation networks on Canadian soil, and hostage diplomacy against Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. Apparently none of that is disqualifying once the managerial class decides it is time for another polite reset.

This is the Trudeau-era foreign-policy disease in one neat little specimen jar: chest-thumping about values in public, backroom normalization in practice. Canada cannot secure its own borders, cannot meet serious defence expectations, and cannot even act like a sovereign middle power without checking the global etiquette handbook first. So naturally the geniuses in Ottawa think the answer is to revive military dialogue with the Chinese Communist Party and call it pragmatic. It is not strategy. It is weakness dressed up in diplomat language, from a political class that treats national interest as an embarrassing relic.
