🇨🇦 250 mm of rain, and Nova Scotia discovers its infrastructure is papier-mâché
Cape Breton took more than 200 mm of rain, with parts of Richmond County hitting 250 mm, and three counties are now under a local state of emergency. Roads washed out, whole communities cut off, 40,000 power outages, seniors stranded, culverts collapsing after years of warnings. The polite version is extreme weather. The honest version is a country that taxes like a superstate and maintains roads like a failed municipality, as reported.
This is Trudeau-era Canada in one image: governments obsessed with climate press releases, diversity consultants, and imported population growth, yet unable to keep basic rural infrastructure from disintegrating when rain shows up. Residents are told to check on neighbours because the state apparently cannot reach them. MLA offices heard concerns for years, but somehow there is always money for ideological vanity projects and never enough for culverts, roads, and grid resilience. Sovereignty starts at home, and a country that cannot keep Cape Breton connected in a storm is not being governed seriously.
