Lake Ontario is still Lake Ontario in Canada, Lake America in the U.S., and both elsewhere, as reported. Translation: truth now depends on your geolocation and which oligarch’s app you opened.

And the most embarrassing part is not Trump’s trolling. It is Canada’s paper-thin digital sovereignty. Some federal and provincial sites briefly mirrored the fake label because they piggyback on Google’s API like a branch plant country that outsourced even its map layer. Mark Carney can puff out his chest, but 52 per cent of the lake’s surface being in Canada means little when our governments, institutions, and public-facing infrastructure are wired into foreign corporate systems that can rewrite reality overnight.
