The funniest part is the state broadcaster used AI to read a story about AI companies buying up physical books, slicing off the spines, scanning them, and dumping the carcasses. Peak regime-era progress. Canadian used bookstores started getting suspicious bulk requests around June; one Toronto owner, Peter Sellers, says someone claiming to represent Innodata was hunting large volumes of secondhand books. As reported, Innodata boasts work for seven of the world’s largest tech companies, while Anthropic was already exposed for spending millions on destructive scanning.

This is the globalist tech economy in miniature: strip-mine culture, feed it into black-box models, toss the remains, call it innovation, then sell the public the sermon about sustainability and protecting knowledge. Canada’s role, as usual, is passive colony status: our books, our institutions, our market, all treated like raw material for foreign AI empires. The same ruling class that can’t protect borders or affordability certainly won’t protect national intellectual capital from corporate looters with a data fetish.
