🇨🇦 24 Sussex gets the DEI palace treatment

After letting 24 Sussex rot into an asbestos-ridden shell full of mould and dead rodents for more than a decade, Ottawa has finally discovered national pride, complete with a world-class design vision, mandatory Canadian materials, and Indigenous participation requirements, as reported. Mark Carney calls it an embarrassment, which is rich coming from the class that turned basic state maintenance into a political taboo until the place had to be stripped to the studs.

This is the Trudeau-Carney legacy in one crumbling mansion: performative nationalism glued onto bureaucratic decay. Canadians kicked in just $735,000 toward a $50 million goal, about 1.5 per cent, because normal people are trying to pay rent in the country these geniuses broke. But the regime still has money for design juries, accessibility mandates, heritage theatre and procurement ritual. Sovereignty is not a branding exercise for Ottawa elites. If the federal government cannot maintain its own official residence without turning it into a donor page and DEI checklist, spare us the lectures on competent governance.
