State-funded journalists needed pressure from the U.S. ambassador, the FBI director, Canadian ministers, and public outrage before admitting 9/11 was terrorism. When a broadcaster is so addicted to performative neutrality that it can’t plainly describe the murder of nearly 3,000 people, including at least 24 Canadians, neutrality has become cowardice dressed up as standards. As reported, staff were told not to call it a terrorist attack because the term could be highly contested. Highly contested by whom, exactly, other ideologues in the same bubble.
