A rehabilitation hospital built in 1941 is now running on leaks, asbestos, and denial. Internal notes confirmed the Miller Centre’s heating system has been repeatedly failing for one to two years, putting more than $1.2 million in prosthetics and orthotics equipment at risk. Temperatures topped 28 degrees, staff work around hoarding and flooded spaces, and a single leak in fabrication could shut prosthetic and orthotic services down completely. And of course the grand plan to relocate the site was axed because the province suddenly discovered costs matter after years of elite nonsense and fiscal vandalism. Fifty-nine inpatient beds depend on the same crumbling hydronic system, but there is always money for bureaucracy, consultants, and fashionable policy theatre. Canadians are told to accept worse service, older buildings, and permanent dysfunction while the ruling class lectures us about compassion and progress. A country that cannot keep a rehab hospital dry is not being governed seriously.
