🇨🇦 BC taxpayers now funding $66 million because social workers tried to protect kids

British Columbia has reached a $66-million settlement over birth alerts—a system flagging at-risk newborns so child welfare could intervene. The horror: trying to stop vulnerable infants from entering homes with documented abuse or addiction issues. Now it's reframed as systemic racism, and you're paying for it.

This is the incentive structure Canada has built. Protect a child from harm and face a class action. Let tragedy happen and face a different lawsuit. Either way, the lawyers win, the bureaucrats expand, and accountability dies. Birth alerts worked. They saved lives. But saving lives isn't the priority anymore—managing optics and cutting cheques to activists is.
